S'gor Budget: 1.5 months’ bonus and other goodies, allocations

Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali today announced civil servants hired by the state will receive a bonus of 1.5 months.

However, Azmin said the payment for one month was already made in May and the remainder will be paid out on Dec 17.

In his budget speech to the Selangor state assembly this afternoon, Azmin said the bonus will cost the state RM44.1 million.

Among the salient points of the Selangor Budget 2016 tabled today include:

- Salary for religious teachers increased from RM1,300 to RM1,500

- Allowances for head teacher increase from RM100 to RM150

- School's senior assistants to receive an allowance of RM80

- Exemption of assessment fee for 167,466 for low-cost houses and 52,781 houses in villages, costing RM41.7 million

- Exemption of fees and license cost for 67,804 small business license holders

- Continuation of free water programme, which costs RM1.06 billion since June 2008

- RM300 million for three hospitals at Gombak, Shah Alam, and Setia Alam

- RM10 million for the expansion of buses to the Ampang Jaya and Kajang municipal councils

- RM373 million for infrastructure development

- RM15 million for stamp museum in Shah Alam

- RM45 million for art gallery, textile museum including a heritage walk at Royal Klang Club

- RM23 million for a football academy

- RM25.08 million for youth and sports development programmes

- RM3 million for women development programme

- A pilot homemakers’ programme

- RM18 million for building three religious schools

- RM52 million for building two religious schools integrated with science and technology in Ampang and Bagan Lalang

- Unisel to recognise Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)

- RM10 million for MySelangor scholarships

-RM1.5 million for dengue control and prevention programmes

- Setting up of SRJK(T) Coalfields for 500 students
