The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is in the midst of concluding investigations into the death of Syed Mohd Azlan Syed Mohamed Nur whilst in police custody.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said the police would forward the investigations to the attorney-general for further instructions.

“The PDRM acknowledges the report by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) which found there was physical violence involved in the death of Syed Mohd Azlan ( photo ) whilst in police custody,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Khalid reassured the public the police would bring those involved to justice.

On Nov 25, last year, Johor police described the death of a detainee after a recent raid in Pengerang as sudden death.

Johor CID chief Hasnan Hassan said the man, a suspect in a riot case, was apprehended on Nov 3 after a raid at Kampung Simon in Teluk Ramunia, Sungai Rengit, Pengerang.
