IGP: Ongoing probes into death in police custody
The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is in the midst of concluding investigations into the death of Syed Mohd Azlan Syed Mohamed Nur whilst in police custody.
Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said the police would forward the investigations to the attorney-general for further instructions.
“The PDRM acknowledges the report by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) which found there was physical violence involved in the death of Syed Mohd Azlan (

) whilst in police custody,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur last night.
Khalid reassured the public the police would bring those involved to justice.
On Nov 25, last year, Johor police described the death of a detainee after a recent raid in Pengerang as sudden death.
Johor CID chief Hasnan Hassan said the man, a suspect in a riot case, was apprehended on Nov 3 after a raid at Kampung Simon in Teluk Ramunia, Sungai Rengit, Pengerang.
