Pakatan Harapan will go ahead with the debate with 1MDB boss Arul Kanda Kandasamy, despite RTM pulling the plug on the event.

Pakatan chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah said there will be other venues.

"If RTM doesn't want to host it, there's Astro Awani and others. It doesn't have only to be RTM, there's so many other TV stations," he said at a press conference at the opposition office in Parliament today.

Among the other opposition leaders present were Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli ( photo ), Seremban MP Anthony Loke and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.

They suggested that the debate could be hosted by Astro Awani or Al-Jazeera .

Saifuddin said the Pakatan secretariat has also identified who will replace Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua in the debate.

"The name will be brought to the presidential council tonight and we will announce it in Parliament at 11.30am tomorrow," Saifuddin said.

He refused to name names, but when asked if the replacement was bald, the whole room erupted in laughter.

Rafizi, who is widely believed to be Pua's replacement, quipped yesterday that he was not looking forward to debate with Arul Kanda due to the follicle deficit suffered by both men.

Pua had decided not to debate the 1MDB boss after Parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia ordered the DAP lawmaker to quit the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) before the showdown.

The DAP lawmaker said this is because being on the PAC is more important than debating Arul Kanda.
