SRC rues leakages, possible sale of classified information

SRC International said while it holds the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in high regard, the firm is concerned about the recent leakages and possible sale of classified information to the media as well as 'irresponsible and self-interested' politicians.

"This appears to be part of a deliberate and concentrated campaign to undermine state-linked companies and, by extension, the government.

"We recognise that, as in any organisation, people are likely to have strong personal views or political inclinations."

However, these must not be allowed to affect their impartiality in performing official duties, said the Finance Ministry-owned firm in a statement today.

SRC, a former 1MDB subsidiary, is being investigated over the transfer of RM42 million into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts.

The company said that its business had been negatively affected by the leakages and urged Attorney-General Mohd Apandi Ali to investigate.

Underhand activities

“As a company that is focused solely on generating value, we do not wish to be either a victim or a scapegoat in what appears to be a politically- motivated campaign […]

“We hope that this will identify and help clear any potential conflicts of interest and underhand activities taking place.

“Upon the completion of this investigation by the attorney-general, we will fully cooperate with MACC or any other lawful authority with respect to any enquiries,” it added.

The company also reiterated its previous statement dated Oct 21 that its RM4 billion loan from Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) was borrowed on normal commercial terms.

The amount has been fully accounted for in its balance sheets in accordance with standard accounting practices, it said.
