Najib eat humble pie? Has he paid GST for the pie?
YOURSAY | ‘Their motto is, ‘If you screw up, find a scapegoat and blame it on that person’.’
MP: Will Najib eat humble pie over GST inflation lie?
Negarawan
: It is only a matter of common sense that the price increase effect of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will eventually cascade down to all forms of products and services. This is unavoidable.
Misleading the rakyat into believing that GST will not increase the cost of living is purely for political expediency and already the Najib Abdul Razak administration is facing the backlash from the rakyat.
The plunge of the ringgit will cause an even bigger effect on the cost of living owing to imported inflation. Perhaps Umno ministers are not affected by the higher cost of living because they are well overpaid and can afford a luxurious lifestyle?
Carlim : Our BN government can do no wrong. They claim price increases are not due to GST but to those traders who take the opportunity to increase prices. Then the BN government takes the opportunity to increase tolls and others. The rakyat are now suffering and thanks to those 47 percent who voted for BN!
Georgie74 : Cooking gas has been going up but the world price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been falling. Something is very wrong with our marketing of these monopolised products.
DramaQueen ^_^: Last week when I went to one of the mini-markets, the prices of a few items had gone up again by RM1 to RM2. The cashier could not explain why. I’m really fuming mad as I have to cut down on a few items. Hope the government is happy that we are suffering.
Some countries that impose a high percentage in GST also give free education, medical benefits, etc, to the people to lessen their burden. Here it’s tax upon tax without mercy. This reminds me of the Mat Salleh rebellion in Sabah. Thought we would learn from history.
Anonymous_1421806811 : We actually have a PM and a cabinet of ministers who do not appear to know what they are doing or how to solve problems affecting the rakyat. All they know is what they must do to keep their boss in power so that their jobs will be saved. Admitting one's mistake, working for the rakyat and making the country great are no longer important for these so-called leaders.
Done : He does not eat humble pie because it’s too cheap. He only eats scallop pie.
Doc : ‘Eating humble pie’ is a terminology that does not exist in Umno politicians’ vocabulary. Their motto is, ‘If you screw up, find a scapegoat and blame it on that person’.
Senior : Eat humble pie? Have you paid GST for the pie?
Why is Najib Razak still the prime minister?
Straight-talk : Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, you could not have summarised better than other previous contributors on Umno and why the PM is still around. Hope you would be given a cabinet position if the opposition comes to power.
Suresh Kumar : Dyana, you want to know the answer? It's because of the disarray the opposition is in due their own doing. They failed to capitalise on Umno's and the PM's misery. Their narcissistic personalities obsessed with power and control have led to the demise of Pakatan Rakyat leaving many opposition supporters disgruntled.
For example, when the Umno government decides to increase toll charges, the people expect the opposition party to come out and explain what is their plan to reverse that decision and how are they going to do it, not come out with ridiculous, populist statement like, “when we take over power, we will abolish the North-South Expressway toll.” It's hard to comprehend how truly disconnected these politicians have become.
If the opposition party naively thinks that they can still win votes by spewing hatred towards Umno/BN, then boy, you might as well wind up or close shop. That is not going to happen as reflected by the sentiments on the ground. You better get your act together.
Anna : Why is Najib still PM? Simple, simple. Thanks to Umno, over the 50 years
1. Laws have been amended so many times that it is impossible to bring down a sitting PM.
2. The institutions have been compromised to kowtow to the sitting PM who holds absolute power
3. Malaysians especially the rural voters are dumb enough to keep Umno/BN in power at every election.
Anonymous _ 1421806811 : Good article. The man responsible for the woes of Malaysia today is hiding behind oppressive laws and keeping close to his chest an army of followers financed by money from dubious sources.
We know Malaysia has gone to the dogs when the Attorney-General's Office, instead of protecting the rakyat, is in fact protecting the wrongdoings of the rich and powerful. I'm sure many Malaysians are waiting desperately for the next general election (GE)!
Victor Johan : Najib is still the prime minister to ensure that whenever the GE14 is carried out, he will be known as the last Umno PM that took his government and coalition parties to be trashed down and a new changed Pakatan Harapan government is voted in by the rakyat, a government Of the People, For the People and By the People. Dr Mahathir Mohamad would have had that very honour if he hadn't quit in 2003 before GE11.
Burong Merah : Dyana, we rakyat love you. Keep it up, with more to come. Why is Najib still prime minister when 52 percent or more did not vote for him? Common sense can tell you,
1. BN does not have any good leader, all half-past-six leaders.
2. BN likes crooked leaders so that among the crooks, no action will be taken against them.
3. BN so-called leaders had no guts to ask for change and only serve their own interests. 4. How do you expect so-called leaders to act against their chief after they had received funds?
Onlooker : Why, indeed. A good piece. We need more and more young Malaysians asking these hard questions, even in the face of obstacles at every turn. And being willing to stand up publicly as well as voting.
Senior : Why? Simple. They would rather have him than his new deputy prime minister.
