Hee Loy Sian (PKR-Petaling Jaya Selatan) has withdrawn his no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

This was announced by Deputy Speaker Ismail Mohamad Said in the House today.

"Hee has withdrawn the motion throught a written notice," Ismail said.

Hee's motion was one of two against Najib. The other is by Opposition Leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Hee's motion was 27th on the order paper, and Wan Azizah's number 31.

When contacted, Hee ( photo ) told Malaysiakini he withdrew his motion to "give way to the opposition leader".

Wan Azizah's motion was filed three weeks ago and was included in the order paper on Nov 5.

However since House rules say that government motions take precedence, it is likely that the no confidence motion may never see the light of day during this parliamentary session.

It is possible to show that Najib doesn't command confidence in the Dewan Rakyat by voting down the Budget.

The opposition however is divided on this, with PAS saying they will abstain from the vote.

MPs will on the Budget today after the Finance Ministry wraps up its debate at the policy stage.

They will get to vote it another time after the committee stage is completed.
