Truth on my side, says Husam on S'gor unity gov't claims

PAS assemblyperson Husam Musa believes truth is on his side after his party president Abdul Hadi Awang challenged him to utter the talak (religious oath) to prove his allegations.

Husam had claimed that Hadi had wanted to work with Umno to set up a unity government in Selangor during the menteri besar crisis last year and was willing to divorce his wife if the claims were untrue.

In a statement today, he cited the sport of wrestling as an analogy, where there must be two fighters involved.

“I consider victory is on my side when Hadi challenged that only I should utter the talak .

“In wrestling, if the wrestler asks his competitor to wrestle alone, I think spectators know what this means," he said.

Husam added that it was impossible to determine the winner by only one wrestler punching his or her own shadow while the other wrestler a mere spectator outside the ring.

“It’s not my intention to humiliate my president, but I only want to bring up the fact how talks behind the scenes between PAS and Umno are still alive.

“In 2014, the PAS president did suggest a PAS-Umno unity government to be formed in Selangor with three PKR assemblypersons joining PAS, period,” Husam again stressed.

Willing to divorce wife

Hadi last Sunday denied that such a merger was planned during last year’s menteri besar crisis.

He also challenged Husam who was willing to divorce his wife if the claims were untrue to do so.

Meanwhile, Husam also commented on PAS spiritual leader Haron Din who was quoted by Malay daily Utusan Malaysia yesterday that PAS was willing to cooperate with all quarters including Barisan Nasional especiallyfor the sake of upholding Islam.

Husam said the veteran leader’s statement showed how talks of a merger between PAS and Umno indeed exists.

“As a PAS member, I am appreciative of such transparency.

“It is better than behind the scenes efforts which will only confuse party members."

Husam said the lack of information has caused never ending quarrels both among party members as well as with those outside the party.

“What PAS needs is transparency,” Husam stressed.
