Online TV news portal KiniTV has been nominated as a finalist for the Influence Asia 2015 Awards .

The portal was nominated as one of the top four finalists for the ‘YouTube Channel’ category in Malaysia by a panel of five local judges.

“You have been nominated… for your endeavours in the social media scene this year,” the organisers of the live awards show said in a statement.

Others nominated in the category are JinnyboyTV and MaxMan.TV.

Influence Asia 2015 is an inaugural annual awards show to honour individual or group achievements in Asia’s social media influence industry.

It aims to be the largest social media awards show, bringing together 180 top influencers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.

The awards will be given out in Singapore on Dec 7. Results will be announced live during the show.

Top YouTuber Peter Chao and top Singaporean entertainer Sheikh Haikel will host the show.

The head of content for KiniTV, Tham Seen Hau, told Malaysiakini that her team is “definitely honoured” by the nomination.

“The entire KiniTV team has worked hard for the last three years.

“This is the result of the hard work of every member in the KiniTV team including those who have left us; they have all contributed to KiniTV,” Tham said.

She said her team is dedicated to bringing independent news in the form of videos to everyone, not only in Malaysia, but outside the country as well.

“We believe these news videos have more than any other medium. And we vow to do better in the future,” said Tham who has been with the company for three years.
