Raub MP Mohd Ariff Sabri, who is possibly facing a lawsuit from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's son-in-law Daniyar Kesikbayev, today said he had no control over an article reproduced from his blog under a contentious title.

Ariff had written the article under the title 'Faulty reward system and changeable governments' but it was reproduced by Malaysia Chronicles under the title, "Son-in-law daniyar to be new Jho Low: Disquiet over contract to renovate gov't office in New York".

"I did not write an article with that title. So I am not responsible for the author of the article or the news portal that made it.

"I have no control over that news portal so I cannot remove it. The lawyers must ask that portal to remove it," he said in a blog posting today.

Ariff further said that he does not associate with the portal which put up the article, nor does he know them.

“They uploaded my article and restructured them with their slant. I have told my lawyer that if my own original article is referred, I am prepared to look at the offending words and passages and if necessary, will remove the offending passages and tender the required apologies,” he said in a blog posting on Sakmongkol AK47.

Ariff argued the essence of his blog posting was about the rotten Umno system and its bad leadership, and not about Najib's son-in-law.

“I did write some passages referring to the son-in-law as a beneficiary of the Umno rotten system.

“But I also said, 'I hope this news is not true.' Readers are welcomed to re-read my own article in this blog.

“So, I repeat, the article quoted by the lawyers representing the PM‘s son-in-law was not written on my blog. I cannot remove it.

"I am waiting for the lawyers representing the son-in-law to point out the material which are deemed offensive in my own article,” he explained.

Daniyar issued a demand through his lawyer Noorhajran Mohd Noor for proof over a claim that he received a renovation contract from the prime minister, after they lodged a police report against Ariff.

"Our client challenged Mohd Ariff Sabri to show proof over his allegation that the deal was inked by the prime minister.

The police report by Daniyar's lawyer cited Ariff's article titled ‘Faulty Reward System and Changeable Government Definitely’ had influenced the write-up which appeared in a news portal.
