PKR AGM | PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar said her love for the state of Sabah will not be diminished by the state legislative's assembly's decision to ban her, following her meeting with self-styled Sulu princess Jacel Kiram.

She again apologises to the people of Sabah, who accuse her and fellow PKR veep Tian Chua of disrespect following the deaths of 10 Malaysians in the 2013 Lahad Datu incursion by Sulu forces.

“I have to accept the assembly's decision but my love for Sabah will still go on,” she said.

“I will continue to defend Sabah's sovereignty. We need to show who is the real traitor. Show your face, don't use political excuses like this to cast aspersions."

She said this in her winding up speech at the 11 th PKR congress in Shah Alam, Selangor today.

In his winding speech, Chua said that while he does feel sorry, it is not because he dined with Jacel.

“I have been barred from entering Sarawak, and now Sabah. I have also been asked by the BN government to apologise to the people of Sabah.

“So I would like to apologise to the people of Sabah because I am unable to be with them in the fight to topple Umno/BN,” he said.

'Meeting not deliberate'

Meanwhile, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail continued to defend her daughter over the meeting with Jacel saying it was not deliberate.

Branding it a “small matter”, the Permatang Pauh MP pointed out how Nurul Izzah was not the one who had hosted the event at which the two had met.

“When one is simply the guest, he or she does not have anything to do with the guest list.

“She (Nurul Izzah) has also apologised over the matter because she didn’t mean (to hurt anyone's feelings),” she told reporters at the sidelines of the PKR congress today.

The Sabah assembly on Friday passed a motion to bar Nurul Izzah and Chua from entering Sabah following the circulation of photos of them meeting Jacel.

A total 47 Sabah assemblyperson voted to bar the duo, three abstained while five opposition reps from PKR and DAP staged a walkout before the vote.

The PKR veeps explained that it was part of a dinner during an official visit to the Philippines and that they had no powers to determine who the guests were.

Chua also said that the duo did not recognise Jacel, as the daughter of the late Jamalul Kiram III, whose forces attacked Sabah and mulilated the body of at least one Malaysian serviceman.
