Former PAS vice-president Husam Musa has announced that he is ‘laying down his weapon’ with regard to his stinging criticisms against the party and Kelantan state government.

“Because PAS has decided to evaluate (the issues raised), I am laying down my weapon to be fair and to give them the opportunity to study and fix several existing weaknesses.

“I joined PAS with my friends, fought in Parliament against Umno and BN. So we are consistent (in our struggle). We reprimand wrongs. Even if committed by our group, we must reprimand,” he told reporters in Kelantan today.

On Monday, Husam was summoned before the PAS management committee (Dewan Harian) to submit a letter containing his grouses with the state government and party.

Husam, who is the assemblyperson for Salor, stressed that his actions were in line with PAS principles.

“Something which is not good must be reprimanded, that is the principle of PAS,” he reiterated.

Quizzed on the possibility of enmity existing between him and the PAS top leadership, Husam dismissed this as the opinion of those with low mentality.

“As far as I have seen, they (the top leadership) welcome (criticism) because it is the duty of a leader to reprimand. So I don’t accept (the claim) that I am doing this to start a fight,” he said.

Husam said when he was a MP, he used to have a drink with Umno lawmakers after reprimanding the ruling party in the House.

“Look at my record, I have reprimanded Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) when he wanted to turn the Subang Airport into a convention centre.

“ Alhamdulillah (thankful to God) because I reprimanded, it did not happen, and it now serves as an airport for domestic flights,” he added.

Husam explained that his action in criticising the state government was for the good of the people.
