The battle between Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his once protege-turned-nemesis Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is also being waged on the blogsphere.

One blogger, Syed Akbar Ali, who is a staunch supporter of the former prime minister, said there word is spreading that Mahathir will be booed, should be attend the Umno general assembly, which begins tomorrow.

"Even to think of doing such a thing signifies that Umno is already dead.

"If they boo the moron instead, Umno has a chance to live," says the posting on OutSyed The Box , which claims to have gleaned its information from 'coffee shop' talk.

The blogger also claimed that delegates and their speeches are being carefully scrutinised to ensure that nobody deviates from their scripts.

Syed Akbar quipped that the delegates be subjected to an X-ray as well.

"The 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion donation are taboo issues. There will be absolutely no discussion or mention of the 1MDB or the RM2.6 billion allowed at all," he says.

The blogger also said Najib's speech is expected to touch on several issues, such as a possible partnership with Umno arch rival PAS, Sarawak election and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).

Certain topics, he added, will be omitted.

"There will be absolutely no mention of the flagging support for the party among the Malays.

"Those surveys that show less than 30 percent Malay support, less than five percent Chinese support, etc, will not be touched upon," Syed Akhar claims.

On the other side of the fence, Raja Petra Kamaruddin, who is also known as RPK, launched an assault on Mahathir and Syed Akbar.

The Malaysia Today webmaster criticised the former prime minister for continuing to harp on the RM42 billion related to 1MDB.

"Mahathir keeps talking about the RM42 billion debts, meaning, of course, 1MDB's debts. At least this is a departure from one year ago when he talked about RM42 billion 'disappearing into thin air'.

"So now Mahathir admits it is RM42 billion debts and not RM42 billion disappearing into thin air," Raja Petra said.

The Malaysia Today webmaster then went on to blame Syed Akbar for this.

"The truth is, Mahathir is saying the things he is saying because he does not really understand accounting. What he knows about 1MDB is what Syed Akbar Ali, aka OutSyed The Box, told him.

"And either Syed does not know accounting or corporate finance or he has been taking Mahathir for a ride - a long ride to nowhere," he added.

Raja Petra also blamed the blogger for confusing Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin.

"And Muhyiddin does not know any better, either. Did he not admit that whatever he knows is based on what he read in The Edge ?

"Yes, he attended the cabinet meetings. Yes, he attended the Umno meetings. But at all these meetings he was totally lost and did not understand what was being discussed.

"So, after these meetings, he reads the newspapers to catch up with what is happening and seeks advice from Syed (Akbar), who gives him the song and dance routine, which confuses him even further," Raja Petra wrote.
