A better place? No, PM, you’re taking us to a darker place
YOURSAY | ‘Answer the RM2.6b question and rakyat will stop the slandering.’
PM: Stop slandering, I want to take us to a better place
Saya Pun Nak Cari Makan:
PM Najib Razak, it already six years since you came to power. We have hardly seen any changes in our lives for the better.
In fact, it is getting harder for us to get by each day with our bills on essential items continue to rise, and the cost of other miscellaneous not spared either.
And, all these are your undoing. Don't blame your shortcomings on others.
All the allegations of scandals can be stopped if, and only if, you care to come out in the open and answer all questions thrown at you by both your political foes and friends.
So far, you have been behaving like a coward and this further fuels more gossips. If you want to bring the nation to developed status, you have to take the lead: be a world-class leader who will not run away when confronted with hostile questions.
Yes, good examples can be seen in the Australian and British PMs, who face journalists, both hostile and friendly, every day.
Rupert16: If the country is to move forward, corruption in whatever form should be eradicated and the perpetrators put behind bars. This should start from the very top, and actions must be taken straightaway.
But alas, with desperate leaders hanging on to power by desperate means through Sosma (Security Offences [Special Measures] Act 2012), Pota (Prevention of Terrorism Act 2015), and now NSC (National Security Council Bill 2015), the only way out is for the rakyat to unite to change the government and not to unite to support a crooked government.
Anonymous_3e86: Answer the RM2.6 billion question and the rakyat will stop the slandering. He was given the chance to explain the issue in Parliament last Thursday, but it was a wasted opportunity.
But it is obvious he just couldn't come up with a believable story nor any evidence to put the scandal to rest.
Odin Tajué: Yes, Most Beloved Esteemed Leader, 1MDB is on the right track and you will transform Malaysia into a developed nation with high per capital income by 2020.
Very true, we must not to listen opposition; they always spin and slander to topple you – our democratically elected leader. You’re the man!
Under your great leadership, we will enjoy a better life. We support you. Carry on.
Commentable: Yes, the higher you take us, the greater the fall. People just don't dare to think of going anywhere higher for fear of the repercussions that follow - higher prices and thinner wallets.
The issues surrounding your current scandals will never go away and it's apparent the evasion tactics as well as beating round the bush will not go down well with the people, including many from your own party.
Hence the never ending bickering, which incidentally is not generated because of slander but instead due to unanswered questions.
So try giving straight-forward, honest answers for once. Admit mistakes and take responsibility for them. Only then the bickering and the struggle (to rid bad vibes) will stop.
Mojo Jojo: How do you intend to lead the nation to greater heights when you even lack the courage to counter your political foes head on?
Microsoft founder Bill Gates once said that "as we look ahead into the next century (21st century), leaders will be those who empower others."
So far the only empowerment you have done is to a select few in government through the passing of the NSC Bill, while the common folk make do with the few liberties we have by any democratic standards.
Wg321: Najib claimed that the US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) in his personal account is a political donation from an Arab. That’s fine.
After deducting all expenses in the GE13 campaign, the balance of the donation (US$650 million) was allegedly deposited overseas again in the Falcon Bank of Singapore under the account of Tanore Finance Corp (BVI) on Aug 30, 2013.
John Malott, the former US ambassador to Malaysia, mentioned correctly that if this money was a donation intended for Umno, then why was it sent back overseas, to an unknown recipient in the British Virgin Islands?
Where is the money now? The balance should have been deposited into Umno’s account. Unfortunately, Najib refused to clarify this matter in Parliament on Thursday.
Unafraid: Mr PM, there is no need to try to arouse our nationalistic fervour by asking us to give you the permission to take us higher. Only please don't bring the nation any lower than where we already are.
It is embarrassing to be a Malaysian nowadays with all the financial scandals plaguing the nation. Just be truthful and be honest for once. That's all we ask.
Anonymous_3e79: Where is the RM2.6 billion? Where did it come from? Why did it go into your personal account?
Why was it not reported to Umno and audited as a donation? How was it spent? Why did the donation coincide with the 1MDB debt funding? Will the PM sue Wall Street Journal and the Sarawak Report ?
The silence is deafening.
