Will hospital be cowed by sacked nurse Naziah?

YOURSAY | ‘Naziah doesn't seem to have basic understanding in medical care.’

We don't allow nurses to wear long sleeves, says hospital

Gunnerrun: Sacked nurse Naziah Sauni Samat should be blacklisted by all local hospitals as she allegedly lied for what she had done and then used the race/religious card to stir up things.

Always pitting the races together with issues that are not even relevant is high up on the agenda of certain groups in this country. There is nothing we have not seen from the likes of Perkasa, Isma and so many other racist groups.

These Malay supremacist groups will help whoever that cries "injustice" and that try to twist things around to display their might over others considered as minions.

Southpaw: Naziah doesn't seem to have basic understanding in medical care and bacterial infection preventive measures. How and where did she graduate from?

Anonymous 759201436321741: Employers, by and large, observe established labour law and practices, not a person's obligations and preference.

Don't like it, go somewhere. But don't threaten others using race and religion.

Retnam: Damai Service Hospital (Melawati) finance and administration manager Regina Sundram said, "However, Naziah came to work wearing arm sleeves (stokin lengan) and had therefore gone against the hospital's dress code."

Isn't she admitting that the sacking was for wearing long sleeves?

Flyingeagle: Naziah, if it is true you did not turn up for work for two consecutive days without any reason, then you have terminated your service with the hospital, and that is according to the labour law as highlighted by Sundram.

Dizzer: Well done to the hospital for standing up to the ridiculous creeping Islamisation of everything. It's a really slippery slope.

For too long people have feared being tarred with the brush of racism/Islamophobia and it has got to stop.

It allows, in fact encourages, the lowest elements in society (morally and intellectually) to get away with the most ridiculous offences which are against reason and decency.

CucuMalaysia: She definitely has a big attitude problem. She is not fit to be a nurse if she lacks the dedication required of the nursing profession.

It’s better to get a job as a clerk in a government department where she can cover from top to toe.

The nursing profession is definitely not for her. She can't even understand the importance of proper attire for her job.

Hospital to sue nurse over long-sleeves issue

Ferdtan: We are glad that the hospital will be taking legal action against Naziah, who allegedly claimed that she was terminated after she was not allowed to wear long sleeves to cover her ‘aurat’ (modesty).

Too often, offending parties like Naziah, when faced with disciplinary action from her employer and angered by their punishment, screamed the mantra of pro-Malay/Muslim sentiments.

The pro-Malay/Muslims NGOs, which would love the attention, then jumped into the fray turning the accusation into racial and religious issue. Stop such nonsense - sue her to prove that she was lying.

This is to teach many others the lesson not to conveniently used religion for their personal vendetta.

Odin Tajué: Naziah, any right-minded non-Muslim would respect your wish to observe your religious dictates and have no problem with your desire.

The thing is that the keeping of your arms uncovered while performing your duty as a nurse is not something that you have come to know about only yesterday, so to speak.

Those who aspire to be nurses have to go through a few years of training, haven't they? Surely during your training period, you would have known what you would be into.

Your insistence on keeping your arms covered now and running off to the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) and complaining about the hospital's standard procedures lead one to conclude that you are indeed a troublemaker and many would have no sympathy for you. I don't.

It is best for everybody that you stop making life difficult for the Damai Service Hospital and go look for a job with a hospital that allows its nurses to cover all parts of their body while performing their duty.

Aries46: Following the explanation by Damai Service Hospital, Naziah comes across not only as consumed with arrogance as she thinks she can use her race and religion to twist and turn her own shortcomings and get at her employers.

She is a danger in any hospital and a discredit to the noble nursing profession where patients’ interest is foremost and one’s race and religion is of no consequence to anyone.

Odysseus: I respect the position taken by the hospital management to sue the nurse for defaming them. Worse still, for turning her disciplinary issue into a religious one.

Of all people she turned to for assistance, why must it be a Muslim consumers NGO? Does she think they have the expertise to assist her professionally or they will just turn this into a religious mess waiting for politicians to jump on the bandwagon?

FairMind: Good lord, this woman is talking about her modesty regarding the length of her sleeves.

This is a travesty against the many Muslim nurses who have to help patients to urinate, defecate, wash wounds/sores, injection on the buttocks, etc.

These nurses did not complain and yet this woman is complaining about the length of her sleeves?
