There is no discussion yet on whether PKR would cooperate with both Amanah and PAS in the upcoming Sarawak state election, said PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

However, she noted that PAS has little presence in the state.

“We did not discuss it in detail, but PAS' presence is Sabah and Sarawak is nothing like those in the Peninsula,” she told reporters in Petaling Jaya today, after the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting.

She was asked whether PKR would cooperate with PAS at the Sarawak state election.

To another question on the status of PKR's political cooperation ( tahaluf siyasi ) with PAS, Wan Azizah asked for the questions at the press conference to be focused on Pakatan Harapan instead.

Previously, PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang, better known as Tian Chua, reportedly said that the party will cooperate with both Amanah and PAS in Malay/Muslim-majority seats in the state.

“In Sarawak, PKR and DAP will play an important role. PKR will cooperate with Amanah and PAS to assist us in Malay and Muslim-majority constituencies […]

“We welcome the support from the two parties and I'm confident that we won't face any problems,” Free Malaysia Today quoted him as saying on Tuesday last week.

The term of the current Sarawak state assembly ends in June next year.

Meanwhile at the press conference, Wan Azizah told reporters that the Sarawak state election is among the issues discussed at today's meeting.

She said the three parties have agreed to cooperate in the election, but seat negotiations have yet to take place.
