The toll in Malaysia from last weekend's devastating tsunamis has risen to at least 68 with some 299 injured, police said today.

The latest confirmed victims were a two-year-old girl and a 57-year-old woman, both of whom died yesterday in hospital due to injuries sustained after the massive tidal waves hit northern Kedah state, police said.

A total of 52 people died in the resort island of Penang, 12 in Kedah, three in Perak and one in central Selangor state.
