Parents and teachers of Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Kafa Integrasi Sungai Kapar Indah in Klang were forced to pool funds to move the school to a shoplot, so learning can resume.
This is after an old building it was squatting in, at SK Sungai Kapar Indah, was deemed to be too crammed for its more than 700 pupils.
Selangor state executive councillor Daroyah Ali said the parents and teachers acted swiftly after receiving notice that they needed to vacate SK Sungai Kapar Indah.
SRA falls under the purview of the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) or respective state Islamic affairs departments.
Touched by the effort, Daroyah and volunteers have assisted in sprucing up the dilapidated building into classrooms.
The rented shoplot was "abandoned", before the school administration offered to rent the building and turn it into a school, she said.
“We hope that by joining in their efforts, we can boost the spirit of the administration and teachers, so they will not give up in their quest to impart knowledge despite the adversities,” she said in a statement.
However, there are still facilities much lacking in the school, which resumed for the first day of the 2016 school year yesterday, Daroyah said.
As such, she hopes corporate bodies and individuals who are able to contribute will lend a hand to ensure there is no disruption in the children’s learning.
