The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has nabbed another six land officers yesterday to assist them in the probe into corruption cases involving illegal bauxite mining in Pahang.

Five men and one woman, aged between 42 and 57, were arrested yesterday under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act, Utusan Malaysia quoted MACC investigations director Azam Baki as saying.

The arrested were officers and enforcement officers from the Pahang Land and Mines Department who are allegedly involved with issuing the department's Form 13D, a document which allowed the illegal miners to transport bauxite to Kuantan Port.

This has taken the total number of arrests to 13, of whom 10 are land officers. Four officers were arrested last Thursday and the case involved more than RM100,000 in bribes, while another three were nabbed two days later.

MACC has recorded statements from the six officers and will decide today whether or not to remand them further.

The commission is still conducting investigations to trace those who were involved in corruption over illegal mining activities, which had accumulated an estimated total of RM187 million in royalty lost last year.
