YOURSAY | ‘The next step is to have a common election logo and political platform.’
No more ‘agree to disagree’, says Pakatan Harapan
Citizen No.26:
This is a step in the right direction. The next step is to have a common election logo and a common political platform that resonates well with the people.
And the third step is for Selangor MB Azmin Ali and PKR to dump PAS as a bedfellow.
These should be the first three steps for the long journey to GE14. The people will give Pakatan Harapan their support if it takes these three initial steps.
Victor Johan: Now we can envisage a strong and formidable Pakatan Harapan that will provide 'harapan' (hope) to the majority of voters and citizens of Malaysia, and steer the nation out of the doldrums Umno and BN had taken us into.
PAS can go ahead and join the already sinking ship that is Umno-BN.
Rick Teo: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) should be allowed to contest in all seats previously contested by PAS. I am confident that they will win all seats in Selangor currently held by PAS.
Let us send PAS back to Kelantan. If PAS is kicked out from Selangor, all 98 council seats can then be given to Amanah.
Wong Fei Hoong: It’s best not to rock the boat in Selangor. Let PAS stay on in Selangor until the next GE. Then boot them out.
DAP and PKR can keep PAS on their toes in Selangor. Amanah can contest all seats held by PAS in the next GE.
Roguekiller: PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, first get rid of your president; she is voiceless, idea-less and has zero leadership calibre. She is a very poor leader and still harbours the thought of bringing PAS on board Harapan.
Second, kick out PAS immediately - even if it means sacrificing governing Selangor. Under such circumstances, either lure the existing PAS members to join Amanah, PKR or DAP - or in the worst-case scenario, dissolve the state assembly to seek a new mandate.
Third, affirm a ‘no hudud’ intent in the new coalition.
And lastly, harmonise all different ideologies and stand cohesively united to formulate a common policy. Don't just ink the agreement for the sake of a coalition.
Anticommunalist: I lost count how many times I have heard this before. It’s just a matter of time Abdul Hadi Awang, Azmin Ali and Lim Guan Eng will be at each other’s throats again.
All are hungry for power. They are no different from BN. A case of old wine, new bottle.
Jesse: Is attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali a lapdog for the rotten regime or an impartial top legal officer of the nation who is responsible for prosecution? Why don’t you ask around and judge for yourself?
Don't give yourself a pat on the back and say you have done a good job. Indeed, how did you come to this conclusion?
Many citizens would likely think that you have successfully covered up grand thefts and other related wrongdoings.
Odin Tajué: No, Apandi was not trying to bluff anyone. He was not trying to deceive the hoi polloi into believing that he was capable of something or that he was intending to do something.
What he did was making a false or an extravagant claim. So, what he tried to do was to fool the hoi polloi.
The problem is that those members of the hoi polloi who are informed enough and have functioning brains know only too well that he is a charlatan, a racial and religious bigot, and, above all, a shameless servile man serving PM Najib Razak and Umno.
Bumiputhran: By all past antecedents, Najib is well secured to remain in power as long as likes, legally speaking that is.
Apandi is specially briefed by Najib prior to his appointment and Apandi would have agreed to the “private terms and conditions” of his new lease of his career.
The main clause is, Apandi will use the full knowledge of his law to protect Najib and prevent Najib from being charged. This is Najib’s first line of protection.
Even if by some remote chance or by an act of sandiwara, Najib does get charged in a Malaysian court, the judges will be carefully selected from those who are beholden to Umno and the party president.
Sahudi: In my opinion, those reading the real news are fully convinced that Najib's multiple (not just twin) scandals are as real as daylight. We need no further convincing.
Alas, we’re but the minority. With massive gerrymandering, our minority voice is further drowned out disproportionately in terms of parliamentary seat allocations.
Constitutionally, the only option is to bring the battle to the Malay, Dayak, Iban, Kadazan kampung (villages), however uneven the election rules may be.
Until this group of under-informed voters are fully convinced, no amount of whining among the convicted will change the status quo.
DAP’s ‘ Impian ’ is a start; but much, much, much more is required to turn the tide.
PKR and Amanah must also mobilise to bring the battle to the heartland. Keep up the good fight and may the force be with you.
Bluemountains: Can DAP leader Lim Kit Siang add one more question for Apandi to answer?
On what grounds and under which law did Apandi rely upon when he advised Najib not to answer any question about the RM2.6 billion 'donation' in Parliament?
