Cops arrest four for making home-made guns
Two imitation guns made from easily available material but which had the capability to kill, were seized from a house in Kampung Sri Aman, Puchong on Saturday.
The guns were made from PVC pipes and wood and used marbles as bullets.
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli said in the raid at about 1 am, three local men aged between 25 to 40 and a 25-year-old Cambodian were nabbed in the house for possession of weapons.
He said the four men would be remanded until tomorrow.
Asked whether the suspects were related to terrorist activities, he said initial investigations revealed that they were working as lorry drivers and attendants and were not linked to any such activities.
"All of them had no previous criminal records," he said, adding that the Cambodian was also held for failing to produce a valid travel document.
In an unrelated case, Yahaya said a tourist from Pakistan who was confined to a room in an apartment in Bandar Sunway for two days since last Wednesday, lost several valuable items worth about RM83,000.
He said the 23-year-old victim was tied up by his countryman whom he had just met and was threatened with a knife to surrender his valuables and the pin number for his ATM card.
"The victim alleged that he was beaten up using a rubber hose and later released at a nearby taxi stand on Friday," he said.
Yahaya said the victim, a computer engineer in Dubai who lodged a police report as soon as he was released, was also looking for two of his friends who had arrived with him on Tuesday.
Yahaya said the victim's friends were Shamoon Arshad, 23, and Muhammad Asif, 22 while the suspect has yet to be identified.
