Why not PKR, Amanah and DAP form one mega party?

YOURSAY | ‘The enemy (PAS) is right in front of their eyes and here they are talking rubbish.’

PKR man to DAP: Why not swap half of your seats with Amanah?

Franco: This maybe a far-fetched idea, but to rid of any stereotyping of any party be it DAP, PKR Parti Amanah Negara or Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), why not disband all parties and form one mega party for all Malaysians.

If governing the country is what the focus is, and that, too, governing it with integrity and transparent manner, merge as one.

This will beat BN at its own game and the opposition can boast that they are the actual 1Malaysia. Just like what Onn Jaafar had envisioned long ago.

The president will surely be the person who garners the most votes in this party and will go on to be the opposition leader and PM if this party gets its simple or two-thirds majority.

This will stop most of the bickering (I guess). This will also eliminate the confusion of race-based politics for the suburban and rural voters where they see the candidates as one party and one party only.

But surely the credibility, integrity and the suitability of the candidate has to be strategically considered before s/he is nominated for a particular seat.

Bamboo: PKR, it's time for you to do real work in canvassing support on your own. As it is, you are hanging on PAS for Malay support and DAP for non-Malay support.

Why not PKR ditch PAS totally and accommodate Amanah to fight for those seats contested by PAS?

It's hypocrisy for you to suggest that DAP sacrifice seats for Amanah, with PKR clinging on to its ties with PAS for the sake of maintaining the Selangor government.

Swipenter: PKR, Amanah and DAP should merge to form a real and large multi-racial political party. What PKR Youth secretary Chang Lih Kang is suggesting is only a half-cooked dish but it has its appeal.

If Amanah was to contest in a Chinese-majority seat, they would likely win. And likewise, in a mixed seat with equal Malay/non-Malay population.

DAP has been successfully demonised as a Chinese chauvinist party by Umno. They would face a much harder time to win over Malay voters. The Chinese have lost their fear of Malay candidates but not the other way round.

The Chinese don't care whether the candidate is Christian, Buddhist, Hindu or Muslim as long as they do not preach superiority of one race and/or religion over others.

They are more interested in the ideals of universal suffrage rather than superiority of race and religion.

Anonymous #31685940: It’s high time PKR split into two groups, one that supports PAS and the other which supports Amanah.

That way we can have three-way contest in all seats. Amanah vs PKR-PAS vs BN. This way we will know what the voters want.

Wira: PKR, are you crazy? Do you want Amanah to be labelled a party which can only win in non-Malay seats, which I'm sure will support the Pakatan Harapan coalition regardless of the contesting party?

I think the better solution for Pakatan would be for Amanah to contest in PKR seats which are more mixed than those held by DAP.

Headhunter: And how many seats is PKR going to give to Amanah? Or do you prefer to give them to PAS?

N1: What kind of alliance is it if PKR has another secret cooperation with PAS outside the alliance and wanted the partners to give up their seats for PAS.

Nobody would trust PKR anymore. It is better for DAP and Amanah to contest all seats and exclude PKR. I am sure PKR will lose all their seats.

DAP and Amanah should just contest all seats in Selangor. Many of the previous Pakatan Rakyat supporters will no longer support PKR and PAS.

Citizen No 26: When PKR is not thinking objectively due to its close relationship with PAS, its leaders will make nonsensical statements from time to time.

Prudent: This sort of issues should be discussed behind closed doors. That Chang came out into the open means that he is likely to score an 'own goal’ for Harapan in that he is contributing to the perception of disunity in Harapan.

Ghostwhowalks: PKR as a party should get real and not be the butt of jokes. They are in bed with PAS solely to govern Selangor and yet are in Harapan with DAP and Amanah.

Didn't PAS sabotage you in the nomination of MB for Selangor? PKR, where are your principles?

Amanah should contest all PAS seats and PKR should let go some of theirs, which are winnable by Amanah, don't you think so?

PKR has been selfish from the beginning and it shows in Sabah by dictating to Sabahans who should lead the state. Believe me, PKR, you are the weak link in the coalition.

Clever Voter: The opposition parties should have only one objective, which is to defeat BN.

One would expect the leaders to weigh their best chance of winning. There is no room for emotions and sentiments. Besides the urban constituencies are already disadvantaged.
