Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir maintained that he has not done anything wrong in the face of an attempt to oust him from his position.

"I don't think I have done anything wrong," he told reporters after arriving at the Subang airport.

Mukhriz was asked if he was concerned that disciplinary action might be taken against him.

On whether he intended to do anything with regard to the 14 Kedah Umno leaders who had announced a loss of confidence in his leadership, he merely replied wait and see.

He also declined to comment if he thinks disciplinary action should be taken against the 14 leaders.

He initially also declined to comment on whether he would be meeting with the prime minister after this but when pressed, he jokingly asked, "(Prime minister of) which country?"

Lost confidence in Mukhriz

Mukhriz had just arrived at the airport around 6pm from Penang, according to airport staff.

Around 30 supporters were present to welcome him, including those from ex-Mara Junior Science Colleges Students Association (Ansara).

They were carrying banners which read "Ansara supports Mukhriz Mahathir" and the supporters cheered and chanted "Hidup Mukhriz" (Long live Mukhriz) when he arrived.

On Wednesday, Kedah Umno deputy chief Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah claimed that the state Umno has lost confidence in Mukhriz's leadership.

He also called for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to intervene and replace Mukhriz as menteri besar.

Prior to the announcement, Bashah held a closed-door meeting with the state's Youth, puteri and Wanita leaders.

Najib is at Putra World Trade Center today to meet with Bashah and the other division leaders to discuss their apparent loss of confidence in Mukhriz.
