A policeman was fined RM5,000 in default three months' jail by the Sessions Court here today, on a charge of accepting a RM200 bribe two years ago.
Police Constable Mohd Izaimie Ismail, 31, pleaded guilty before judge Habibah Mohamed Yusof.
He admitted accepting the money from lorry driver Rustam Wahib at 2.25pm on June 11, 2014, at the Warong Zakiah food stall in Jaya Gading, Kuantan.
The bribe was an inducement not to take action against Rustam for failing to cover the goods on his lorry with a canvas, an offence under the Road Transport Act 1987.
Mohd Izaimie committed the offence while on patrol car duty with colleague, Lance Corporal Rosli Mat Kaha, 47, after they had stopped the lorry driven by Rustam.
Rosli, who was jointly charged with Mohd Izaimie for the offence, claimed trial to the offence.
Rosli was also alleged to have taken Rustam's identity card and driving licence which were to be returned after receiving the bribe.
