MH370 The debris found in Southern Thailand do not match those from a Boeing 777 aircraft, and are thus not from the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370, experts say.

Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said this was confirmed by experts from the Department of Civil Aviation, Transport Ministry and Malaysia Airlines.

“From their detailed report, they have ascertained that the part assembly number, wire bundle number and bolts part number do not match those of a Boeing 777.

“Additionally, the part numbers which were found on the recovered debris are not listed in the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 Illustrated Parts Catalogue manual.

“Based on these identifying details, the team has confirmed that the debris does not belong to a B777 9M-MRO aircraft (the MH370 plane),” Liow ( photo ) said in a statement today.

The inspection was also conducted with the Thailand Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, he said.

The debris found last week were transported to Bangkok for inspection, fuelling talk that a part of the MH370 aircraft has been found at long last, after its mysterious disappearance two years ago.

The plane disappeared from radars while carrying 239 passengers and crew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

“Our thoughts continue to be with the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew of MH370.

“We will continue to keep the next-of-kin and the public updated on any latest developments on MH370. We remain committed to continue the ongoing search in the Southern Indian Ocean,” Liow said.
