The many twists and turns in trail of RM2.6b

YOURSAY | ‘With so many discrepancies, what is the rakyat supposed to think?’

Pua: AG 'revealed' additional RM27m transferred to PM

Bluemountains: How did attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali come to a decision on the RM2.6 billion 'donation' when the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had clearly stated that the investigation on the subject has yet to be completed at the time the MACC submitted its report to the AG?

Negarawan: Bungling Apandi shot himself in the foot. Apparently the credit card expenditures were also included in the same chart. The MACC findings corroborates with that of Sarawak Report .

N1: The AG must answer what was put forward by Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua. I am sure Apandi has a hard time explaining the blunder he made to cover up for his master.

Not only Pua, but all Malaysians will continue to question it because the reasons provided by the AG actually insult the intelligence of the rakyat.

Anonymous 2390251451363147: In this country, you can receive political donations of any amount. There is nothing wrong with that.

Let's assume some of the donated money went into premier's account. But we do not know whether he is holding it in trust, or for some corporate social responsibility projects.

Not Convinced: So Anonymous 2390251451363147, the RM41 million of SRC money in Najib’s account is also a donation?

If yes, are you saying that a Finance Ministry-owned company can donate money to the finance minister?

Paradise: This AG cannot be trusted, so let the court decide whether or not Najib is innocent. Apandi must not act as a judge. He is no longer one. If he is incapable of prosecuting, let someone else does the job.

Mosquitobrain: Part of the astronomical RM27 million allegedly used to pay for Najib's credit card expenses?

Small wonder his administration needs to cut back petrol subsidies, implement the goods and services tax (GST) and to recall scholarships. PM, thank you for your tag line, "Rakyat didahulukan".

LKY: Just wondering - how many credit cards points will be awarded for RM27 million?

Pua: Nonsense if Najib thought SRC money was from Arabs

Bluemountains: From the explanations given by the AG, Najib was not aware that the RM42 million came from SRC. Instead, Najib thought that it came from the Arabs and therefore proceed to use part of the money, allegedly to pay for credit card purchases.

These explanations clearly contradict with Najib's official statement made many months ago, that he did not use the money for personal gain.

Ipoh PP: "Based on this, Apandi said there was no case against Najib, and ordered the MACC to drop their case."

Is the MACC an independent body? If as always claimed, they are independent, how could the attorney-general order them to drop the case? Just a layman's question and reasoning.

Frankie: Najib thought Apandi would do the magic. It ends up he is not a good magician after all.

Oh Ya?: Very simple, just change the script, this time the RM42 million is from another member of the Arab royalty.

After all, until now, nobody knows how many "donor(s)” there were. No names or documentary proof were provided either. It is up to the ruling elite to pen the script.

LKY: Our AG seems to be like a judge. How can he answer for Najib - that the PM thought the money was from an Arab? Najib must answer for himself in court.

If not, everyone can use any money and get away by saying, “I thought it belonged to me”.

Bamboo: Good, Pua, keep us clear on of the maze of transactions that make us laymen dizzy. The AG's action to clear Najib has raised more questions and convinced us that the money was gotten illegally.

DuaEnam: More importantly, where is the money now and who took the money out? Does this have something to do with the two SRC officials who are wanted for the investigations but are missing?

Anonymous_1421806811: Good job, Pua, for bringing up this discrepancy. So it appears Apandi didn't do his homework well.

Ordinary Guy: So if anyone receives graft and gets caught, easy. Just say you were not aware of the transfer. Just return it and you are free to go – this is Bolehland law.

Anonymous #19098644: This morning at breakfast while having roti, everybody was talking about the case and all I heard was sniggers and contempt for Najib.

I did not hear one Malay, Indian or Chinese say anything good about this.

Ipohcrite: The AG may pretend to be gullible, the PM may pretend to be naive, but the rakyat have no need to pretend to be naive or gullible.
