Would MCA call S’pore a 'Chinese chauvinist' country?
YOURSAY | 'They are full of roar when it comes to DAP, but dare not even squeak when Umno...'
Anonymous_1421406986:
DAP has always been playing wayang kulit in a big way. Their latest protest against the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) is one such act claiming that the Malays have much to lose.
This is just a sideshow, for they also know Chinese Malaysian businessmen have much to gain, given their generational business experience and positive exposure to an extensive market share into foreign countries.
So why is DAP pretending to defend the Malays? Just to show deceitful political sympathy and to cast the Umno leadership in a bad light, but at the same time acknowledging the fact that the Malays are not really prepared for TPPA?
The Indian and Malay leaders occupying positions in DAP have never been part of the basic ingredient for a cake but are merely there to sprinkle some colour to make the cake look more colourful.
DAP has always been for Chinese interests, unlike MCA, which has contributed immensely to Chinese educational and economic development and rendered help to many Indians and Malays.
Basically: A born and bred Chinese chauvinist party trying to tell DAP how to not be like them. DAP's Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari wasn't talking about defending anyone's rights, that's BN's lie to the voters.
He is talking about appealing to Malay voters just like MCA needs Malay votes too, but does it through its ‘tai kor’ (big brother) Umno. At least DAP makes its own effort.
WDA: MCA Youth's Eric Choo and Kong Len Wei raise some good points. DAP should digest these comments seriously with an open mind.
However, I believe DAP leaders Lim Guan Eng and Lim Kit Siang are now aggressively sharpening their pencils to give a strong rebuttal, which will mostly include hitting back and highlighting some of MCA's imperfections instead of admitting they do suffer an image problem, either of their own doing or due to the Umno-BN propaganda, or both.
Since the ultimate goal is for Pakatan Harapan to take over Putrajaya, they should take the points raised seriously, although they came from their arch and bitter rival, the MCA.
Roguekiller: Eric Choo, MCA cannot represent the Chinese, because it is just a 'yes man' to Umno. That's why the Chinese have lost faith in MCA.
Nobody, not even DAP itself, has denied that it is a Chinese-majority party; however, it comprises a sizeable number of Malays and Indian members. Does MCA have any Malay and Indian members?
Indeed, DAP's central committee (CEC) members contest and win on the same level-playing field, and it is unfortunate the Malay members didn't make the grade; perhaps they were new and have not established themselves well enough to be reckoned with.
Choo, are you trying to project MCA as a better party serving Malaysians of all races than DAP? Don't even dream about it, let alone say it out. The facts remain, and the truth prevails.
Voice: The highly racially diverse country like ours does not only comprise Malays and Chinese. What about the other races such as Indians, Sarawakians and Sabahans? They are also pillars of this country.
Why do these two MCA Youth leaders have the cheek to claim MCA champions racial diversity, when both come from an exclusively Chinese party? Why did these two from a racist party choose to ignore other racialist parties in their condemnation against DAP?
Winning or losing is one thing, but why choose to ignore the fact that Malaysia is not just about Malay and Chinese, but about other races as well?
Why do they choose to ignore the fact that despite being lambasted as a Chinese-based party, DAP has repeatedly fielded Indian candidates and have more Indian MPs and assemblypersons than all parties in BN combined?
Are they sincerely overlooking this achievement, or do they think other races such as the Indians have all vanished from Malaysian soil?
Hopefully, these two have not mistaken DAP's Puchong MP Gobind Singh to be Ko Bin Seng.
Hello: Why keep attacking whether DAP is Chinese or otherwise? It’s best for these MCA young professionals to attend to the reasons why they have lost the support of the Chinese community they claim to represent.
They are full of roar when it comes to DAP, but they dare not even squeak when Umno violates the rights of the very people they claim to represent.
Magic Dragon: Yes, we can see DAP is not completely perfect but it is getting there.
MCA, look after your backyard; if not, soon you would not even have a backyard to bark in, but would be just an unwelcome squatter in Umnoland.
DAP has been too accommodating to PKR in seats allocation. There are many mixed seats which were grabbed by PKR and their results were not impressive. Perhaps they should let DAP Malay candidates to have a go at them.
Would PKR be that gracious and generous? I doubt it. The whole problem is racial politics still rules the day.
NewMalaysia: I am just curious why is MCA is so afraid of DAP if it is indeed a Chinese chauvinist party?
Indeed, MCA chooses to ignore the fact that DAP has more Indian MPs than MIC. How can a party with more than one MP of another race be called a Chinese chauvinist party?
No doubt the numbers of Malays in DAP are fewer compared to other ethnic groups in the party; however, the true definition of 'multiracial' is not necessarily that the Malays must be of the majority.
Singapore is a multiracial country despite the Chinese being the majority race; so if we go according to MCA's definition, Singapore should be called a Chinese chauvinist country instead.
How stupid is that?
