Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has urged all quarters, from the top leadership to the grassroots, to stay united to ensure that Sarawak will be retained under BN in the coming state election.

Najib said personal ambitions or interests should not be the factors to obstruct BN's success in retaining power in Sarawak and ensuring the well-being of the people.

"Soon, we will face the Sarawak state election. I want all quarters, from the top leadership to the grassroots, to stay united and put the interests of the people above their own.

"Let us close ranks, strengthen our solidarity and ensure that Sarawak will remain blue under BN's rule," he said in his blog NajibRazak.com.

Najib in his post also shared his experience during his two-day visit to the state and expressed the federal government's commitment to continue leading the way for Sarawak development to be at par with the development in the peninsula.

"People-based major projects, such as the construction of the Pan-Borneo Highway, Batang Sadong Bridge, improvement of infrastructure, especially the old and obsolete educational institutions, have begun and would continue to be planned to ensure that the people of Sarawak will not be left out of national modernisation," he said.

Sarawak has vast potential

The prime minister said Sarawak has vast potential, and with the right combinations, in terms of natural resources, manpower, spirit of the people and calibre leadership, he was confident that the state could achieve that potential.

On matters raised by the state government concerning the delegation of power, Najib said discussions on the matter were still ongoing on a positive note.

" Insya-Allah (God willing), the process, although it may take some time, is for the best interests of the state and the people," he said.

The prime minister also touched on the leadership of Chief Minister Adenan Satem ( photo ) which, in his opinion, was very well accepted by the people, both in urban and remote areas.

"Tan Sri Adenan is a leader who understands clearly the needs and requirements of the local people. This is the kind of leaders that we want, that the people want.

"Tan Sri never hesitates to voice out his opinion and suggestions to the federal government, if he thinks it is for the benefit of the people and the state," he said.

As such, Najib said, he and the chief minister would continue making proper plans to ensure that the state would equally benefit from national development and prosperity.

"No one, either in urban or rural areas, will be marginalised or left out under my administration," he added.
