Defiant activist artist Fahmi Reza will use a sketch of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as a blindfolded clown on T-shirts as the design for his anti-Sedition Act campaign.

He chose the design after he conducted a poll via Facebook and Twitter for netizens to pick the sketch they want – that of a bespectacled Najib in a clown face or with the blindfold – for the T-shirt.

A total of 1,065 netizens favoured the sketch of Najib as a blindfolded clown. Only 392 netizens favoured the sketch of him wearing spectacles.

Fahmi carried out the poll although he was under watch by the Police Cyber Investigation Response Centre (PCIRC) after a sketch of a clown bearing the face of the prime minister appeared last month

The poll was carried out under the T-shirt project, with the tagline of “#‎KitaSemuaPenghasut‬”, for the anti-Sedition Act campaign.

“The (blindfolded clown) design won with more than a two-thirds majority,” said Fahmi in his Facebook posting.

“As I have announced last week, I will not take a single sen from the sale of the T-shirts,” he said.

“All profits will go to local NGOs or activist groups, which work hard in your community,” he added.

The shirts will be sold at the respective T-shirt DIY in every state.

Fahmi urged the people to suggest an appropriate price for the T-shirts.

The artist had received a warning via Twitter from the PCIRC over the sketch.

Pro-BN NGO Gerakan Merah has also lodged a police report on Fahmi’s sketch, alleging that it could influence the rakyat to hate Najib.
