The 1MDB fiasco and RM2.6 billion political donation may be hot issues in Peninsular Malaysia, but they have nothing to do with Sarawak, according to Chief Minister Adenan Satem.

Adenan said these were issues in the peninsula which had nothing to do with Sarawak.

As such, he added that they would not have any significant impact on the upcoming state election.

"The opposition always likes to associate these issues with Sarawak, arguing that supporting Adenan is akin to supporting (Prime Minister) Najib (Abdul Razak). As a matter of fact, these issues have nothing to do with Sarawak, or me, in any way.

"I don't even know what exactly is going on there," Adenan said in an interview with Media Chinese International Limited, according to mysinchew report.

Talking about the Chinese community, the chief minister believed Chinese voters will come back to BN.

"My friends have told me there are signs Chinese voters will come back to BN. The quantity is another question."

However, he said he was kind to the Chinese community not because he wanted to please the Chinese voters but because of the state policies.

These policies refer to the state government's recognition of UEC certificate, increased allocations for Chinese schools and the acceptance of independent high school graduates into public service.

According to mysinchew , Adenan said he hoped to bring Chinese Malaysians back to mainstream politics because the state government needed to have representatives from the community.

He reiterated that his policy towards the Chinese community in the state was a continuous process and not modified in accordance with changes in political development.

"I will never say things like 'I will be kind with you, if you're kind with us.'”
