Former MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik has drawn inspiration from the heavens in expressing confidence that his former boss Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be successful in his campaign to oust Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

He declared that the former premier would not fail because what Mahathir expressed about Najib resonated with the religious scriptures.

"I have been reading the religious books.

"Allah, Jesus, Buddha and all the Hindu deities say it is not correct to take other people's money and put into your own account. Only Najib says this is correct," he said.

"Mahathir said he (Najib) was wrong also. He was converging the same voice and view of God," he told a press conference in Kajang, Selangor.

Responding to critics who felt that the former premier has run out of steam, Ling stressed that those who hold the same view as God cannot fail in their quest.

He then cited former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, former minister Shafie Apdal, Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Tengku Hamzah and himself as examples.

"Thus, (what is described by others as failure is just merely) part of the journey towards victory," he added.

Since last April, Mahathir has been on a blistering campaign to oust Najib, whom he once endorsed as the best candidate for the top post.

The prime minister has denied abusing public funds for personal gain and blamed the corruption allegations on those plotting to topple him.

On Tuesday, Mahathir stressed he would not throw in the towel and vowed to continue pushing for Najib to step down.

“I don't think Mahathir is a person who is going to give up easily,” added Ling.
