"Was there consensus among the BN component parties on the removal of Muhyiddin Yassin as the deputy prime minister and Mukhriz Mahathir as the menteri besar of Kedah?"

This is the question posed by DAP assistant national publicity secretary Teo Nie Ching to Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak, in response to his comment that the removal of two PKR assemblypersons shows consensus does not exist in Pakatan Harapan.

Salleh said this yesterday regarding the spat between DAP and PKR over the removal of two PKR representatives from their posts in Penang government-linked companies.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng earlier said that he had dropped two PKR assemblypersons - Ong Chin Wen (Bukit Tengah) and Cheah Kah Peng (Kebun Bunga) - from their GLC directors' posts because they could no longer be trusted.

This was after the duo chose to abstain from voting (rather than against) on a state legislative assembly motion last year by an Umno assemblyperson, on the issue of land extension works in Penang.

In a statement to rebut Salleh, Teo asked if the appointment and removal of Muhyiddin is the sole prerogative of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, why does the removal of directorship in government-linked companies require consensus among Pakatan Harapan component parties?

Teo added that politicians' decisions are often subject to criticism, but Salleh is not qualified to criticise Lim for sacking two PKR representatives from their posts in Penang government-linked companies.

"In fact, when we talk about 'doing what he/she wants', the master of the skill is none other than Najib.

"He removed Muhyiddin and Mukhriz simply because they were constantly voicing their concerns over the thorns in the flesh of Najib - the 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion donation scandals."

She said as to Ong and Cheah, they were removed because they did not express their reservations before the vote.

"Therefore, there is a big difference between the removal of Muhyiddin and Mukhriz and the removal of Ong and Cheah from their posts as GLC directors."

She said DAP can accept different views, but to ensure a government can function smoothly and to reduce differences among different parties, it is important for such different views to be raised and discussed during internal meetings.

"That is why pre-council meetings are held," she said.
