Pagoh Umno division deputy chief Ismail Mohamed said he believes that future generations will punish the party's supreme council for its actions, which are destroying the Malay party.

He said this as the council looks set to go ahead with its plan to haul up deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin before the disciplinary board with the view to suspending him.

Muhyiddin and another former minister were purged from the government, along with several menteris besar and grassroots leaders for being critical of the party leadership.

Muhyiddin is slated to face further action for not stopping his tirade against party president Najib Abdul Razak.

"We understand that now Umno has become the exclusive property of the supreme council and the voices of the grassroots are no longer heard.

"They (supreme council members) can do whatever they want now, yet they forget that one day they will be punished by future generations for the harm they are doing to Umno," Ismail told Malaysiakini .

He was responding to the proposal by supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz for the party's disciplinary board to suspend Muhyiddin for his incessant outbursts against Najib.

Nazri's proposal got the thumbs-up from fellow supreme council member Rahman Dahlan who agreed that Muhyiddin must face censure, but added that the matter would be decided by the disciplinary board.

Ismail said that if Muhyiddin was suspended, Johor would face the loss of a central leader.

However, he said that Pagoh Umno would respect the decision should it be made as it still loved the Malay party.

"Johor will lose another of its central Umno leader... while this will be bitter for Pagoh to accept, (we will submit) as we love Umno, which was born not only in Johor, but more so at its royal palace.

"Supreme council members who are not from Johor, and even the few from the state, are not as tough as we who are from Johor Umno.

“The Malays are Umno and Umno is the Malays," he said in an apparent dig at Nazri, Rahman, and other supreme council members.
