We've run out of words, why not ‘angry’ emojis?

Najib's FB page awash in flood of 'angry' emoji

Sali Tambap: The makcik and the pakcik in the kampung - all traditional BN supporters - do not use Facebook. So, what appears in Prime Minister Najib Razak's Facebook page may not reflect their opinion.

These are the people that Najib is trying to keep on his side, and he is obviously wooing them. As for the young and urban voters, well, he has more or less pretty much lost them.

No PM can survive with such a huge scandal hanging over his head.

The silly defences by Najib's lieutenants, such as Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak, Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan and attorney-general (AG) Mohamed Apandi Ali, do not make it better, but it rather has the opposite effect.

Malaysians may be fiercely loyal to their own, but they are not stupid. Anybody who dares to think otherwise should only do so at his own peril.

Now the question is: how far can the power of money and affirmative action buy that loyalty - and when it snaps, will sanity and pragmatism take over?

The alternative would be to win the kampung folk over, and assure them that their interests would be guaranteed - even without Najib and BN at the helm.

Anonymous Hotplate: Najib, after being a politician for so many years, should save his face, his position, as well as his family name, and react fast by stepping down in a gentlemanly manner to face what may come - before the rakyat act on him.

By now, he should know how much the people despise him and are angry at the mere mention of his name. How long more can the “paid” Umno warlords cover him anyway?

Doc: As for myself, I am confident that Najib will not be affected by these “angry” emojis on Facebook - thanks to him having developed a skin thicker than that of a rhino.

Beeep!: Well, we've run out of words, why not emojis? With such an uncivilised bunch up there, words have little effect at all.

Just keep the emojis running like an uncontrollable flood, but we know he can turn off the tap.

7888888: Not to worry, Umno will say it is the work of DAP's “Red Bean Army”, financed by Israel and masterminded by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is now supporting the Christians to bring down a democratically-elected government.

Spiderman: Fellas, just beware that the “angry”, “annoyed”, etc, emojis can be declared illegal, just like the yellow Bersih 4 T-shirts .

Mojo Jojo: Malaysiakini , we should use emojis here, too. That way, we can express our pictorial disgust and anger towards the government and its cybertroopers for uttering nonsense. Viva la emoji!

Headhunter: Well, that's one way to vent one's frustration. Not that it will do any good, since the man is deaf and dumb to all his wrongdoings.

Rafizi welcomes Muhyiddin to Reformasi movement

Kim Quek: Yes, suspended Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement calling for reforms gave us a sense of déjà vu, a flash back of former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim in 1998.

Now, the reformasi icon who started us on the great journey to reform this nation from a corrupt autocracy into a flourishing democracy is suffering in a solitary dungeon.

Despite his physical absence, his ideals and dogged determination continue to inspire and goad us to march on.

With the latest plunge of the country into the depths of repression, corruption and economic doom, it is felt more painfully than ever that we are in dire need of sound leadership and sweeping changes to give this nation a new lease of life.

It is hoped that our entire people would wake up to the current dreadful realities and rally to the calls of reformasi and decisively make a break with the past.

Proarte : What is PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli talking about? What reforms did the “grand coalition” in the name of Pakatan Rakyat engender?

All they achieved was to bring us closer to having the IS in Malaysia. The Islamic agenda – which former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim tacitly supported – had caused so much friction in the opportunistic coalition that it eventually imploded.

The level of corruption deteriorated exponentially under Pakatan Rakyat's watch and we are now heading towards a fascist dictatorship. Anwar's role was self-serving and destructive.

Rafizi should perhaps recall how the late Karpal Singh had once said that Anwar was not fit to be the opposition leader, and that he should repent for his unprincipled politics.

BernieBaby: Remember, Rafizi, Muhyiddin Yassin is “1Melayu” first, and then only Malaysian. You want to welcome him? He does not even meet your fundamental reform criteria!

Clever Voter: The inner core values of these Umno discards have remained untouched. They left not because they disagreed with the lack of ethical principles, but because they were no longer part of the inner circle.

Outliers of Umno will remain as Umno. It’s the same as leopards which don't change their spots.

JBond: The question is, whether - with their past behaviour and all - they would feel comfortable working with honest, transparent and selfless objectives now?
