Wise, strong leaders needed for M'sia, not just MCA

YOURSAY | 'The rest of BN parties also need sweeping leadership change.’

Nazri: MCA needs a leader to outshine Guan Eng

4Malaysia: Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz, you are dead wrong. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng is not a strong Chinese leader.

He is a strong Malaysian leader. And so are/were others such as the late Karpal Singh, Lim Kit Siang, Tony Pua, and Rafizi Ramli.

And don't just harp on MCA, as all of BN, including Umno, do not have a single strong and capable leader.

MIC is busy fighting among themselves. Gerakan is just lame. MCA makes the occasional wimpy noise and ends up humiliating itself. Meanwhile, Umno Baru is rotten to the core.

Anonymous 2362021442199789: A corrupt leader is even worse than a sleeping leader.

It is not only MCA but also the rest of the BN parties that need a sweeping leadership change... starting with the corrupt ones.

No BS: How to have a strong leader when MCA is kow-towing to Umno? To regain Chinese support, MCA needs to cut ties with Umno.

Quigonbond: The only MCA leader that is even remotely strong enough to challenge any leader in the opposition is one that dares to quit BN - if they don't resolve the scandals, corruption, abuse of power, institutional disintegration, religious bullying and financial mismanagement, in a manner satisfactory to intelligent members of the society.

Done: MCA president Liow Tiong Lai said MCA will not interfere with Umno, but Umno is interfering and insulting MCA.

Barefoot: I was born and raised in Bentong. Now I work and stay rooted in Penang. I'm ashamed of MCA president Liow Tiong Lai. He's just a poster boy to me.

When you enter Bentong (Liow’s constituency), all you see are billboards of him. But nothing is done. I don't need an MCA leader to take charge of Bentong.

Roguekiller: If there was someone from MCA, Gerakan or even from Umno who could outshine Lim Guan Eng, BN would have captured Penang in the last two elections.

HaveAGreatDay: How many Lims are there in DAP? No, there is no need for any Lim in the MCA - as long as its leader can hold his own against the Umnoputera, support will come back.

Nazri, so you look down on Liow? He is the best MCA has to offer, no?

If our PM was Guan Eng, this country could eat Singapore for lunch. It's only the constitution that disallows that.

Dont Just Talk: Nazri, you are right that MCA needs a leader who is much stronger than DAP's Guan Eng.

However, looking at the present batch of MCA leaders such as Wee Ka Siong, Chua Tee Yong, MCA Youth leader Chong Sin Woon, there are none who can take on not only Guan Eng but Tony Pua, Teresa Kok, etc.

For starters, MCA should find the courage to tell off Umno Baru leaders that RM2.6 billion deposited into PM Najib Abdul Razak's personal account was wrong and so was the RM268 million in soft loans given to the Umno Wanita chief's family for breeding cattle, some of which ended up in the purchase of high-end condos.

Democrat: Umno does not allow MIC and MCA to be decision-makers in BN. At the same time, MCA and MIC don't have the guts to stand up to Umno. So how can they be seen as strong leaders if they keep on being subservient?

Whereas in the opposition, the leaders can openly criticise one another. Initially this may be uncomfortable, but the coalition will get stronger in the long run.

Anonymous #40538199: MCA needs a strong leader to stand up to Umno and tell it that enough is enough - it is now three ringgit vs one Singapore dollar. Please return the portfolio of finance minister to MCA.

Tholu: Nazri, look at your own Umno backyard first and tell me which one of its members from branch chairmen to division chairmen and right up to the PM, can be declared as strong leaders and are free from corruption and power abuse scandals.

And pray tell me, how many of Umno leaders speak intelligibly, have brains and are scrupulous.

Pahatian: Nazri should re-phrase his statement to "Penang should vote in a leader like his boss so that donations from Saudi Arabia can start pouring in and make the state the richest in the whole of Malaysia.”

Anonymous_1371692684: I didn't know Nazri believes in Santa Claus. This actually will require an actual miracle because MCA will have to come back from the dead first.

Tan Kim Keong: Nazri is right. MCA is spiritless. Leadership in this country's context now is associated with vision for a Malaysia that stands tall for equality, human rights, justice, civil rights and democracy.

MCA is anything but that.

The Analyser: If Nazri Aziz thinks that Guan Eng is a strong leader, it’s no wonder Umno has the 'quality' leaders and deputies that they have now.

J Chong: Nazri, we Chinese support any party which is clean, regardless of race.
