Lame denials over latest WSJ allegation fail to convince

YOURSAY | ‘WSJ did not say 1MDB paid directly to Najib's personal account.’

1MDB says not involved with US$1b in Najib's accounts

Odin Tajué: Please note very carefully what 1MDB said. It said that it had not paid any funds into PM Najib Razak's personal bank accounts.

Without meaning to insult your intelligence, but rather to show it and its supporters that we are not stupid, this means that no one from 1MDB has deposited or transferred cash drawn from 1MDB's account or deposited a cheque or cheques drawn on 1MDB's account in favour of Najib into his (Najib's) personal bank accounts.

That may be so. But it does not mean that 1MDB did not pay out money to a third party or more than one third party, and that the party or these parties did not subsequently deposit some or all of the money into Najib's personal bank accounts.

Aries46: By its repeated rhetoric that it had never banked in funds into Najib's personal accounts, 1MDB is twisting and turning the WSJ's claim that most of the US$1 billion 'originated' from 1MDB. A distinct anomaly, indeed.

In an earlier report, WSJ had stood by its report . Clearly, both Najib and 1MDB have lost credibility and their recycled denials are baseless and intended to fool Malaysians.

Anonymous 1890491455255851: Yes, WSJ did not say 1MDB paid directly to Najib's personal accounts.

The financial daily showed a chart of how the money was moved and eventually landed in his accounts.

Perhaps, 1MDB should be looking into this itself instead of just refuting things that were not even said in the first place.

Maplesyrup: Other than the possibility that WSJ is a Zionist front or motivated by Zionist ambition or just a nut case, it is simply not rational for a global publication of substantial worth to tamper with the prime minister of a nation unless it has irrefutable proof.

Nobody knows for sure if WSJ got all the proof, but it is simple - 1MDB and Najib should sue WSJ.

It has gone beyond words, and for Najib and 1MDB to salvage their honour, they have to sue WSJ. Prove it in an independent court, please.

Bamboo: All the attempts to douse the fire of the allegedly missing billions from 1MDB and mysterious bank-ins into Najib's personal accounts have failed. We can put two and two together and make our conclusion.

What do you say - Umno supreme council members and 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda? Your feeble attempt to cover up only make you all look stupider by the day.

Anonymous_1421806811: I think BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan should send his two ‘clowns’ to United States and lodge a police report in New York against WSJ for publishing false information.

They have tried to lodge a police report against Sarawak Report in London recently but failed . Perhaps they may be more successful in the US.

The WSJ keeps putting Najib in such a bad light internationally but all his apple polishers are afraid to take legal action against WSJ.

Unless AG Mohamed Apandi Ali makes the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) report public, we have no choice but to take at face value western media reports since our "official" news on 1MDB so far have been more or less a very badly scripted fairy tale meant for the kampung folk.

WSJ ignoring confirmed facts, says gov't spokesperson

Not Convinced: This statement by the government spokesperson can be easily demolished:

1) “As stated by the attorney-general of Malaysia, the funds received were a donation from Saudi Arabia.”

The AG's word is not the law (especially one who is appointed by Najib after allegedly sacking the previous AG).

2) “This has been verified by multiple lawful authorities who conducted exhaustive investigations.”

MACC is still investigating the RM2.6 billion donation. It has asked the government to invoke the MLA (mutual legal assistance) so that the anti-corruption commission can work with its foreign counterparts to probe the matter and apparently this was denied.

3) “The foreign minister of Saudi Arabia has also confirmed that the funds came from Saudi Arabia.”

This is half of the truth. Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir had also said the RM2.6 billion was most likely an “investment”, not a “donation”. ‎

Pahatian: This government statement is no statement at all. What facts are they talking about?

Please show all the facts, names, time, reasons, etc. With the facts you have, please sue WSJ or shut up.

Anonymous 2299391436500295: Well, since the veiled assumption here is that the WSJ is a propaganda organ for the Jewish cabal - which also, according to Mahathir, controls the US government - then Malaysia should just cut diplomatic ties to the US.

Instead of denials, it’s best for Najib to sue WSJ
