Salleh Keruak: Dr M wants to destroy M’sia, not save it
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not want to save Malaysia but instead wants to destroy it, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak.
Commenting on Mahathir’s open letter to Umno members on Friday, Salleh said the long-serving former PM and former Umno member is only bent on destroying the ruling party.
“(His actions are) proof he not only does not love Umno, but has intentions to destroy the party.
“Because Mahathir has quit the party, and is conspiring with Umno’s political enemies, it follows he has no right to interfere in our party’s matters,” wrote Salleh on his blog today.
“Collaborating with the enemies to topple a democratically elected government is clearly not to save Malaysia, but to destroy it,” he added.
Mahathir and his group, he said, were only trying to find a shortcut to topple the government.
“They are not using the democratic way which has been the practice of the country since our independence and they simply can't wait for the election process.”
'Full of grudges'
Commenting further on Mahathir’s open letter, Salleh said his writing was full of grudges against Najib.
“He raised old stories, repeated things that have been answered clearly. He criticised the party with all kinds of accusations when he has left the struggle,” he said.
Based on the former premier’s writing, Salleh said it was clear that he has a big political agenda.
“He is trying to to show that he is better than Najib, he even likened himself to a few former premiers. His attitude does not show his true self.
“The proof - Mahathir doesn't want to listen, neither does he want to accept any explanation that does not meet his requirements,” said Salleh.
In his open letter , Mahathir had called on those who still held true to Umno’s original struggle to help him oust Najib from power.
Mahathir said they could no longer wait until the 14th general election because by that time, Umno if led by Najib, would certainly lose and once that happened, it would never be rebuilt.
