PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang will see if Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will survive till the next election before deciding if his party will discuss election strategies with them.

"Let’s see whether Amanah is still 'alive' or not (by that time)," was Hadi’s curt reply to reporters before rushing off from at event last night.

He was asked about Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub’s statement last week that they are always open for discussion with all opposition parties, including PAS, in order to ensure a straight fight against BN in the 14th general election.

Hadi was at the launch of PAS’ new activities centre in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras set up to help PAS members carry out activities that can strengthen the party.

Ex-PKR leader and former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who is Bandar Tun Razak independent MP, was present at the event.

Also present were PAS Federal Territories commissioner Mohamad Noor Mohamad and PAS women's wing chief Nuridah Mohd Salleh.

Around 100 members greeted Hadi’s arrival at 9.50pm.

The Islamic party has yet to reconcile with Amanah, formed by breakaway members after the latter were obliterated from the party’s top leadership during last year’s muktamar.

Since Amanah's formation last year, its leaders have reiterated the party's stand to aim to avoid three-cornered fights during the next general election.

However Amanah and the new coalition Pakatan Harapan’s greatest challenge will be to come to such an agreement with PAS, which has formed its own opposition pact with newcomer Ikatan.
