PM, Nixon also said he wasn’t a crook, yet he resigned

YOURSAY | ‘Najib, just call for the GE14 now ... if the majority give you their support, then you can declare your gratitude.’

Please don't think I'm a crook, says Najib

Sali Tambap: Sorry, PM Najib Razak. The RM2.6 billion ‘donation’ and the SRC International’s RM42 million that was credited into your personal bank accounts so far have not answered satisfactorily by you.

In the absence of honesty and candour from you in explaining these very extraordinary transactions, it will be forever a heavy burden sitting on your shoulder.

You have to clear yourself. Ordinary decent citizens like us who do not have a dog in this political hunt would like the prime minister of Malaysia to look honest and act honest.

Unfortunately, you do not fit that category as you have done badly in dealing with this controversy.

Your actions have been like someone who is abusing his power of authority in order to save himself from his criminal act. Thus you do not have our confidence to really believe you.

The ball is in your court, so to speak, and it is all up to you to gain our confidence. But first you really have to bare all in the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’ and SRC’s RM42 million scandals respectively.

Anonymous_1372741039: Malaysians do not think that Najib is a crook but are asking, why the cloak-and-dagger stuff with the transfers of key officers in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Public Accounts Committee (PAC), and the sacking of the attorney-general.

Anyway, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Switzerland and the United States are investigating if there is any connection between the money and 1MDB. Hopefully, it will prove his innocence.

Time alone is the mother of truth, as the saying goes. It may indeed prove Najib's claim that he is not a crook.

CQ Muar: Najib, it's not just that certain quarters have been portraying you as a thief, but if you’re clean, you wouldn’t have such a reputation.

The bottom line is, in order to prove otherwise, just come clean by disclosing the truth regarding the billions that went into your bank accounts - it is that easy.

We understand how desperate you are right now, pleading to the nation to trust and believe you.

If that's your appeal to the rakyat, then come clean and tell the truth.

Hello: All this talk about not robbing forest and bauxite lands does not address the 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion issues.

Call for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion as well as the transfer of SRC monies into your various bank accounts, then we might believe you.

Worldly Wise: Indeed, the PM has not been accused of stealing trees or bauxite. He has been accused of having RM2.6 billion in his bank accounts.

GE14Now!: Mr PM, your explanations of the donations (which the Saudis said was likely not a donation ) and the return of the donations through frozen accounts not only hold no water, but reek of grand corruption.

These were not helped by your sacking of your DPM, the AG and the transfer of key officials involved in the investigation of the scandals.

Roguekiller: Is there a thief who readily confesses that he/she steals? If you did not steal from the people, why haven't you sincerely and truthfully explained how the two colossal sums of money hit your bank accounts?

Again, where did US$681 million and RM42 million come from? Don't fool us with the stale story, as the Saudis have questioned that the donation was from their royal family, and no one knows how the RM42 million from SRC landed into your account.

If you were a six-year old, people might forgive you, but you are the PM and country’s finance minister.

Ipoh Pp: Najib, just open up your bank accounts and declare all your assets truthfully.

Why the fear and why are your answers to questions not forthcoming? This leads to us having doubts. So who brought this to yourself?

Victor Johan: Najib, you should dissolve the Parliament now and call for the 14th general election so that you can get the rakyat's feedback whether they are actually giving you full support.

If the majority give you their support, then you can declare your gratitude.

Gauging only from the forced applause from the attendees at this sponsored gathering of 5,000 doesn't do you any good, and you know it.

Kangkungking : This issue has become a 1MDBgate. In Watergate, then US president Richard Nixon said to the public, "I am not a crook". And then he resigned.

Jaycee: And yet, the PM has the audacity to preach morality to us!

Najib and the emperor’s new clothes
