PAS Youth has asked Lim Guan Eng to go on leave until the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) complete its investigations into the purchase of his bungalow.

Its Penang chapter chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said this is to ensure transparency and a swift investigation process.

"PAS Youth is of the view that Lim should take leave from his job as CM until the MACC complete its investigations.

"We also support PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's stand that Lim is innocent until proven guilty by court.

"Hadi's stand shows his magnanimity in defending a person who is not found guilty although that person declared PAS a rival or enemy," he added.

Afnan noted that Hadi showed similar wisdom when handling the Selangor menteri besar crisis two years ago.

The PAS president's action, he added, showed the party's consistent stand in the Islamic struggle to defend righteousness.

“The stand and principles practised by the PAS president, are in line with the mature political culture of the party, based on Islamic principles by being rational and professional in making decisions,” Afnan said.

Meanwhile, the New Straits Times today reported on the claim by Penang Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim that the bungalow's market value was RM4.27 million at the time Lim purchased it.

He showed a copy of property transfer assessment declaration from the Inland Revenue Department to support his claim, after lodging a MACC report.

Rafizal further said Lim was aware of the value of the property in Jalan Pinhorn, following a document dated Aug 27 last year addressed to the DAP secretary-general.

He attacked the chief minister for not knowing the current market value of the bungalow.
