DAP’s Padungan state assemblyperson Wong King Wei has questioned another sale of state land under Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem.
Wong zoomed in on the land sale which took place on Jan 9 last year, some nine months after Adenan took over as chief minister.
He said the land, measuring 6,765.6 acres located at lot 6 and 7 Buloh Land District, Balingian, was sold to a company at RM300 per acre.
“Granted that Adenan should have the benefit of the doubt, I yet request Adenan to clearly explain to the people of Sarawak a reasonable basis for the selling of the over 6,000 acres of land at RM300 per acre,” he said in a Facebook posting today.
He added that the company’s directors comprise of two men, aged 22 years old and 35 years old.
“Who are these two young chaps? On what basis do they merit this extraordinary land deal from the Adenan-led government, over the rest of the population?” he asked.
This is the second land transaction Wong has highlighted since December.
In the earlier case, Wong claimed the Sarawak government had on March 17, 2014 sold 3,121.33 acres of land in Lundu at “below market price”, just two weeks after Adenan came to power.
“The market price then was at least RM5,000 per acre,” he claimed.
Wong said he is seeking a meeting with Adenan to clarify the matter.
