The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) advisory board chairperson Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim denied allegations that it was delaying investigations into Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's purchase of a bungalow, allegedly below market price.

Tunku Aziz said claims that the MACC was not working to investigate Lim on the purchase of his bungalow were not true and unfair.

"The matter (purchase of bungalow) has to be thoroughly investigated, the process is not completed yet and calling the CM (Lim) to be interviewed without a full investigation is not the MACC practice," he said in Kuala Lumpur today.

When asked how long the investigation process will go on with regard to Lim’s controversial bungalow, Tunku Aziz said it would depend on the nature of the case.

"The reason for the delay is due to the nature of the case that is very complex, and has to be thoroughly investigated."

"We would also like to tell the public to not jump to conclusions that the MACC was taking sides," Tunku Aziz said, adding that before calling the CM to come forward, there must be evidence to justify his presence.

Therefore, Tunku Aziz said this was something that if “we explained clearly to the public, they will be able to understand and stop the unhealthy development on making allegations against the MACC”.

It was previously reported that Lim had bought the bungalow below market price from Phang Li Koon who is said to be linked to a company that purchased the controversial Taman Manggis land in 2012 to build a specialist hospital.

Tasik Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya had accused Lim of corruption in the purchase of the bungalow and sale of state government land in Taman Manggis.
