Sarawak seat scramble continues hours to nomination day

DAP and PKR continue to squabble over seats after it is learnt that Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian might sign the authorisation letter for PKR candidates to contest in five seats - Tasik Biru, Mambong, Simanggang, Bukit Semuja and Mulu.

This despite an agreement at national level to allow DAP to contest those seats, averting a multi-cornered fight involving Pakatan Harapan parties.

Sarawak DAP in response said it will contest Batu Kitang, a seat it earlier agreed PKR will contest, if PKR forces multi-cornered fights in the five other constituencies.

Nomination period ends at 11am today.

Trouble in Terengganu, again

Signs of cracks in the ties between Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman and the Terengganu palace, after Ahmad Razif was introduced at two official events without his honorary title ‘Datuk Seri’.

It is speculated his titles were stripped by Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin as a sign of displeasure with the MB, with some dailies citing sources confirming the matter.

Ahmad Razif declined to comment, while Umno vice-president and former Terengganu Umno liaison chief Hishammuddin Hussein urges calm over the matter.
