PARLIAMENT A BN lawmaker has suggested that the government gun down drug dealers and addicts instead of hauling them to court.

"I read what happened in Brazil and China.

"The Brazil government instructed undercover cops to shoot drug addicts and drug dealers, no need to bring them to justice. The (drug problem) was reduced," said the Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin.

"We may need to shoot them because they are the ones who destroy the country," he added when debating the National Anti-Drugs Agency Bill 2016 in the Dewan Rakyat.

"This is the measure to handle the country's long-standing issue for 50 years," he said.

He claimed that some officers were involved in drug activities, where drugs found their way inside the rehabiliation centres while drug addicts roamed the streets for a few days after being arrested.

Using fried banana as an analogy to describe how rampant drugs are, he said the fruit is well-liked by most Malaysians.

"I can say (we can) find drugs more easily than fried banana in Sandakan," he said.

Sim Tze Tzin (PKR-Bayan Baru) hit out at Bung Moktar, saying the country is governed by rule of law instead of the law of the jungle.

Nik Mazian Nik Mohamad (PAS-Pasir Puteh) asked if there are hidden hands behind the fact that there are more Malay drug addicts than other races.

He likened to the British colonial days when the colonial masters used opium to control a big country like China by controlling the business.

"Are there unknown hands that want to destroy the younger generation among the Muslims?" he asked.
