PKR deputy president Azmin Ali is still trying to negotiate for a straight fight between the opposition and BN in the upcoming Sungai Besar by-election.

He said he was still in talks with PAS, Amanah and DAP to work something out.

"We should learn our lesson from Sarawak. I think this is the best time for all political parties on the opposition front to work on consensus and ensure it's going to be a one-to-one fight," he told reporters in Sungai Besar today.

He is confident he can conclude negotiations before nomination day on June 5.

Both Amanah and PAS are vying for both the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar seats, which were vacated after its incumbent MPs Noriah Kasnon and Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad were killed in a helicopter crash in Sarawak earlier this month.

The Election Commission has decided that both contests will run simultaneously, with polling day set on June 18.

Azmin had earlier launched Sungai Besar Sentral, a hub for free busses in the constituency.

The Selangor menteri besar said the state government fully paid for the bus service.

While campaigning for the by-election has not started, Azmin has promised that the state government will serve Sungai Besar more should it receive the people's mandate.

"If we get a big mandate, there will be more programmes for Sungai Besar," he told the 100- member crowd who cheered.
