Umno's cyber warfare chief Ahmad Maslan says there is no need to go into details over claims that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak received Bank Negara's clearance to transfer RM2.6 billion into his personal bank accounts.

Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi revealed this in a speech in Australia last week, but Ahmad said this was an "old story".

"This was a long time ago. Why do we want to revive old stories?" Ahmad asked when questioned on this at the Parliament lobby today.

"Why do you keep asking this? It's enough... you ask him (Puad)," he said.

Puad, (photo) who is also Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director, said Najib told a supreme council meeting he received Bank Negara's clearance soon after The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the matter.

However, Ahmad did not confirm nor deny whether the meeting was held.

WSJ's report on this was published on July 2 last year.

Puad made his claim on Najib saying he had received Bank Negara's clearance during a dialogue with Kelab Umno Australia.

On a separate matter, Ahmad said there is still time for supreme council members to mull whether to give suspended deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir the boot.

The supreme council will meet on Friday, with Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Mansor saying he would propose that Muhyiddin and Mukhriz be sacked from the party for going against the president.

Ahmad also brushed off Mukhriz's claim that 50 Umno branches in Kedah will table a motion of no confidence against Najib.

"If I'm not mistaken there are 22,000 Umno branches... we take every issue seriously, but that figure is really insignificant," he said.
