MCA's hudud drama and its predictable ending

YOURSAY | 'So what's next? Is their Kedah exco going to seek a private tutorial from Hadi?'

Kedah exco makes U-turn on resignation from MCA

LifeFlier: The drama ended so fast. I was hoping that there would be a by-election Kedah's state constituency of Gurun.

We are disappointed that MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon didn't dare to challenge Kedah exco member Leong Yong Kong to resign as BN assemblyperson.

So what's next? Are both Chong and Leong going to seek a private tutorial from PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang on hudud law and embrace the law wholeheartedly in the next sitting of Parliament?

Wandering Star: As sure as the sun rises from the east, Leong retracted his resignation from his party.

These people find it very difficult to give away the posts they so dearly treasure, having been sitting on the BN gravy train. These unprincipled people would not be MCA members if it were not the case.

Anonymous #19098644: The MCA Teochew opera is now over. It's back to status quo.

They'll be lovey dovey with Umno, the party that moved the motion to let Hadi's Private Member's Bill jump queue in Parliament.

MCA is also the same party that harboured lecturer and columnist Ridhuan Tee Abdullah for 16 years as a life member while he ran down the Chinese and non-Muslim communities and promoted extremist views.

Kuasa Rakyat: MCA is most likely working hand-in-hand with Umno on the Hudud Bill.

Do you think Minister in Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman Said would have proposed to move the bill up the queue for debate without this sandiwara?

MCA probably agreed on this and therefore allow Umno to score some points in being more 'Islamic'.

And then the plan was for MCA to make big-time noise and threaten to resign, and after some time, Umno in the "spirit of the BN family" would "agree" to discuss this further and put the matter in abeyance.

MCA would then look like the hero - the saviour of the non-Muslims.

All this is just play-acting. MCA will later use this issue (mark my words, this will be their campaign strategy - MCA has got no other issues left to convince the Chinese to support Umno) during the by-elections to convince the Chinese that MCA stood up to Umno and "won".

Don't be deceived. This has all been planned beforehand.

RCZ: The rakyat have already predicted the flip-flop party's actions. This is no surprise. Since when have they ever done anything on principle and stick with it?

You are also going to see their chief, Liow Tiong Lai, along with former chief Ong Tee Keat and other MCA leaders, doing more flip-flops soon.

SusahKes: Leong, I'd actually be kind of disappointed if you didn't do the U-turn.

After all, we all know what we can - and have come – to expect from MCA leaders. And it's all part of the game.

Well, at least you did your U-turn just in time for your May's salary; life without the perks can be hard.

Goldee: What a joke, when we say all these coming from MCA are "wayang kulit", they get angry. MCA's so-called "leaders" have no guts and are always fond of making a 100-percent U-turns.

Korkor: Yes, I told you so. This was just a mini-drama as MCA men are never known for true tales, they only have make-believe tales.

Therefore, never believe anything that MCA leaders say or do. They are only good in playing sandiwara, but often fall short.

We should hold them responsible for what had transpired from Ridhuan Tee, the former MCA life member when he was spewing venomous words and belittling the Chinese community.

We should shun MCA for a lifetime for the benefit of our future generation.

Wira: Indeed, never believe these cheap tricks from MCA leaders to deceive the voters.

Leong, you should resign over the party's support of Prime Minister Najib Razak's RM2.6 billion 'donation' instead of this Hudud Bill.

Sans Blinkers: When one resigns from an Umno-led coalition party like MCA and still stays in an Umno-controlled state government, then you know that it is all for cheap publicity.
