BN satisfied with cooperation among component parties

SG BESAR POLLS A more organised and better cooperation among component parties in Barisan Nasional (BN) can help the coalition’s candidate in the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election, Budiman Mohd Zohdi, to retain the stronghold.

Selangor BN chairperson Noh Omar said besides Umno, other BN component parties like MCA, MIC and Gerakan, had opened their respective operations rooms to assist in the campaign.

“We have seen MCA and Gerakan machinery going to the ground and meeting the Chinese voters in Sekinchan,” he told a media conference in Sungai Besar.

To a question whether the focus on Chinese voters could affect the votes of other races for BN, Noh said the BN election machinery would also engage with other voters in the constituency.

Budiman will face PAS’ candidate, Meru assemblyperson Dr Abdul Rani Osman, and Azhar Abdul Shukur, of Parti Amanah Negara, in the tussle for the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat. Polling is on June 18.

The by-election is called following the death of its incumbent Noriah Kasnon in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak, last May 5.
