K KANGSAR POLLS PAS has challenged DAP to openly repeat the accusations it made about the Islamist party in the billboards around Kuala Kangsar, so the Islamist party can take legal action against it.

"PAS challenges the relevant party to openly say it in any media in written form. We will take legal action against them," PAS Kuala Kangsar election director Idris Ahmad said today.

Idris said the billboards portraying PAS as being in cahoots with BN, which first emerged in Sungai Besar, have appeared in Kuala Kangsar as well.

Idris said the billboards were set up yesterday in the town centre, and were immediately taken down the same day.

"Three billboards have been set up, they are working to set up another three," he said.

Idris said the billboards portrayed PAS as attempting to merge with Umno, and that it was part of the 1MDB fiasco and the RM2.6 billion donation controversy.

Describing this as a dirty allegation, he urged the Election Commission (EC) and the police to act.

"I am worried about such provocative incidents. We want the police to act. We do not want our members to take matters into their hands.

"We should contest like a gentleman," Idris stressed.

The billboard merged the faces of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, MCA chief Liow Tiong Lai and Umno president Najib Abdul Razak into a kind of triple Siamese twin.

The image was captioned in Malay and Chinese with the slogan: "BN, PAS Sehati Sejiwa, Rasis Rasuah Sama Sekali" (BN, PAS One Heart One Soul, Racist and Corrupt One and All).

Idris said PAS has been consistent in demanding that the authorities probe the 1MDB and RM2.6 billion issues.

DAP publicity secretary Tony Pua had claimed responsibility over the billboards.
