SG BESAR POLLS Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has only raised more questions with his announcement yesterday that he supports Amanah but prays for PAS, said Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

"What does such a remark mean?" Hishammuddin said at a press conference in Sungai Besar today.

Azmin yesterday finally declared that he was behind Amanah candidate Azhar Shukur, but still prayed that PAS' Rani Osman would continue fighting BN.

Hishammuddin (photo) rubbished that such a move, where two parties can work together but still compete against each other in elections, was a sign of mature politics.

"How can it be mature when it confuses the public?"

The Umno vice-president, however, said this alleged confusion among the opposition did not necessarily give BN an advantage.

"It's not enough unless we make sure that what we plan on paper is translated into something that can be felt come polling day," Hishammuddin added.

'A lot wrong with them'

Meanwhile, Tourism and Culture minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, also concurred with Hishammuddin's remarks that Rani's appearance at Azmin's function had merely highlighted "confusion" in the Opposition pact.

"This merely shows confusion among them. Even I am confused. I don't know what is wrong with them. A lot is wrong with them," he said.

Asked whether the incident has given a clearer message for voters to support BN, Nazri said: "Of course. If it is so difficult to choose between PAS or PAN (Amanah), then vote for BN."

Azhar and Rani are facing off against BN's Budiman Mohd Zohdi, who is defending the seat which was vacated when incumbent MP Noriah Kasnon died in a tragic helicopter accident.

The showdown among BN, PAS and Amanah will climax on June 18.
