The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a former PKR lawmaker yesterday for allegedly receiving a RM30,000 bribe from a contractor.
Sources revealed the ex-MP, who is a PKR division chief in Selangor, is also being investigated for allegedly cheating several disabled persons of their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) deposits.
According to sources, the investigation began when the suspect was still a lawmaker.
It is understood that the former federal lawmaker may be remanded today.
Contacted later, MACC director of investigations Azam Baki confirmed the arrest to Malaysiakini but refused to reveal details of the case.
“Investigations are still ongoing,” he said.
